ACTION ABOVE WORDS – THE FUTURE IS NOW!

Take Back Santa Cruz began in the fall of 2009 when a small group of concerned Santa Cruzans came together to find ways to take action against the tide of rising crime and abusive behavior threatening our beautiful city. It began with a handful of moms going to city council and making ourselves present. We vowed to be part of the solution. Halloween was upon us, a potentially violent night. Santa Cruz was going downtown and we were going to be there too. The Facebook page was created, signs were made and we stood on the corner of Pacific and Cooper streets…“Join Us”. By the time we returned home, hundreds had signed up. “What next?” they asked. That day changed everything.

A city of accidental activist, now thousands, bonded, willing to work together to create positive change. Since then we have rallied together for positive loitering events, community clean-ups of drug dens and advocacy at city council meetings.

We want to raise awareness. We want people to know what is happening before the vote, before the cuts. Be a part of the outcome before it hits the paper. This website and our successful Facebook page is how we do it. Whens our next meeting you ask? We don’t believe in metal chairs and florescent lighting, our meetings are our events. We are action above words.
